Bird belonging to the family Apodidae. A Macaronesian endemism that only nests in Madeira and the Canary Islands.
It occupies all kinds of habitats, from the mountains to the coast.
Nests are built on cliffs, gorges and coastal cliffs for breeding. It usually migrates to Africa in autumn.
