Erect, sturdy, very variable perennial. Basal and cauline leaves orbicular, entire with wavy margins about 12 cm across; petioles expanded at base, amplexicaul, with 2-8 sessile appendage. Heads 10-20, about 1,2 cm across with 8-14 white to carmine ray-florets, the center purple.
